CCS and MODE Interior Designs win HC&G Bath Design Award

The 2015 Hamptons Cottages & Gardens Innovation in Design Awards – Bath Design

Even though the owner and designer of this Water Mill bath, Mode SB’s principal, is married with young children, she wanted the room to have a masculine tone, while also being luxurious and discreet. The most compelling detail, and one that every judge made note of, is the hovering double vanity, illuminated from below. While acknowledging the bathroom’s “masculine appeal,” judge Kim Seybert enthuses that “a woman would still feel comfortable using it!”

CCS, Dwell and Arkitektura.

Back in November, CCS participated in the Dwell Silicon Valley Home Tours. Our good friends at Arkitektura helped create inviting living and family room spaces with their sleek and modern additions from B&B Italia and Minotti. Photographer Paul Dyer captured these spaces beautifully, as illustrated here in these new photographs.

Diane Middlebrook Cabins Win Builders Choice Award

We are excited to announce that The Diane Middlebrook Cabins at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program has won the 2012 Builders Choice Award. The Builder’s Choice Design and Planning Awards serve as a leading barometer of the latest trends and influences in architecture, design, and community planning across the nation.

The four sleep/work cabins are designed with sustainable features, including a freestanding, pre-engineered steel roof assembly that carries solar panels. The new structures are designed for month-long residencies by writers, poets, composers and playwrights. They will increase the program’s capacity by 50 percent.

Now in its 32nd year, the Djerassi Resident Artists Program (http://www.djerassi.org/) has provided more than 2,000 artist residencies and currently serves approximately 90 artists each year–all free of charge. It is the largest artist residency program in the West and is considered among the best in the country.

Dwell Silicon Valley Home Tours

CCS participated in the Dwell Silicon Valley Home tours this past weekend, featuring the Los Altos Hills Family Residence which was built in 2008.

Dwell magazine hosted their Silicon Valley Home Tours event this past weekend, on November 3–4, 2012. The weekend featured interesting architecture and people from the Silicon Valley area in California. To kick-off the home tours, Cass Calder Smith spoke at the “Meet the Architects” reception Friday night. This was a great opportunity for everyone to meet the architects participating in the Silicon Valley Home Tours and listen to talks about their work. On Sunday, CCS hosted over 400 guests at our Los Altos Hills Family Residence.

More info about the Home Tours can be found on Dwells website here: http://dht.dwell.com/about-silicon-valley-home-tours
